SAFE operates a training credits system to give you total flexibility and the best volume discounts. Once training credits have been purchased, our customers have total control over who is enrolled and which safeguarding courses they take. Each individuals' progress can be checked and current progress reports and pass certificates can be downloaded at any time. Training credits do not expire and can be used at any time in the future for any safeguarding training course.

1 training credit = 1 safeguarding training course.

Example:

A Practice with 3 Dentists and 5 Nurses with no current safeguarding training, working with children and adults:

  • All 8 staff need Standard Child Safeguarding and Standard Adult Safeguarding = 16 courses
  • 2 management staff both need Leading on Child Safeguarding and Leading on Adult Safeguarding = 4 courses
  • 16 + 4 courses needed, so total order would be for 20 training credits, discounted to £20.99 each.
  • Your nominated safeguarding administrator then controls who is enrolled on which safeguarding courses and monitors their progress.

commentback2back   Customer Comment: I thoroughly enjoyed the four courses I did. I had been putting it off as I thought it would be time consuming and irrelevant, however the opposite was true. The time went very quickly and I found the courses to be both relevant and very interesting. Thank you for making it so enjoyable and worthwhile Vivien Brown - Practice Manager Harland & Dear Dental Practice.

Training Requirements All Staff Management
In addition to the mandatory DBS checks, all staff within the practice must  be trained in standard child safeguarding, which will give them insight on how to recognise potential signs of abuse and how to respond to concerns in a way that provides protection for all those involved. In addition, if your staff deal with adult patients then they also require training in standard adult safeguarding, as any adult undergoing treatment is legally defined as vulnerable. Training can be taken online or face to face and both SAFE's online and face to face child safeguarding courses for dental teams include scenarios that are specific to the dental setting, ensuring the training is applicable to students' roles.
Each practice requires a designated lead and deputy responsible for safeguarding within the practice. The designated safeguarding lead and deputy require training in leading on child safeguarding and if your practice deals with adult patients they also require leading on adult safeguarding training. These courses detail their specific roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding. These are in addition to the standard safeguarding courses listed above.
