Safeguarding Training for Dental Staff

Each credit can be used for any one of these courses;

Standard Child Safeguarding (All Staff)
Standard Adult Safeguarding (All Staff)

Leading on Child Safeguarding (Lead and Deputy)
Leading on Adult Safeguarding (Lead and Deputy)

   

What training does a dental organisation need?

All dental staff working with children or young people (up to the age of 18) need current Standard Child Safeguarding training to comply with CQC requirements..
All dental staff working with adults at risk need current Standard Adult Safeguarding training to comply with CQC requirements.

Staff (usually two per organisation) with managerial responsibility for Child Safeguarding need current Leading on Child Safeguarding training to comply with CQC requirements.
Staff (usually two per organisation) with managerial responsibility for Adult Safeguarding need current Leading on Adult Safeguarding training to comply with CQC requirements.
Note: It is normal for the same two people to have managerial reasponsibility for both Child and Adult Safeguarding.

What criteria do these SAFEcic training courses fulfil? Do they comply with CPD requirements?

Our Standard Child Safeguarding course fulfils the criteria of level two as described in the Intercollegiate Safeguarding Children & Young People: roles and competencies for health care staff 2019 plus the training requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and  General Dental Council (GDC). This course also fulfills all child safeguarding aspects of "Safeguarding in general dental practice - A toolkit for dental teams". It represents 3 hours of verifiable CPD, learning outcomes A and D.

Our Standard Adult Safeguarding course meets the requirements of  the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and General Dental Council (GDC) plus the educational criteria for Levels One and Two required for verifiable enhanced Continuing Professional Development under the General Dental Council’s Lifelong Learning Scheme. It represents 3 hours of verifiable CPD, learning outcomes A and D. It also fulfills all adult safeguarding aspects of "Safeguarding in general dental practice - A toolkit for dental teams".
